Roman burial in London, robbed in the 18th century, found recently at construction site

The Roman Empire ruled the southern half of what is now the island of Great Britain from 43 to 410 AD. During this occupation, the Romans founded or greatly expanded numerous settlements, including Londinium, or what is today London, shortly after the Roman invasion of the island. Although the city was continually occupied following the fall of Roman rule, numerous archaeological sites dating to the Roman period have been found throughout the heavily urbanized city. Recently, a Roman sarcophagus was found at a construction site, but not for the first time; apparently grave robbers had discovered the burial sometime in the 18th century.
