“Mary’s Cottages” in Scotland—only 6 hours from Edinburgh
Most people are familiar with the efforts of government agencies and non-profit organizations to preserve historic sites. England has its National Trust, which became a model for national trusts in the United States and other former British colonies. In Charleston, South Carolina, the Historic Charleston Foundation owns and operates as historic house museums several properties and has a revolving fund for purchasing historic homes to hold until a suitable preservation-minded buyer can be identified. Mary’s Cottages, a combination of century-old land new thatched roof constructions on land held by the same family for six generations, are now for sale.
