Saving Venice, again

The non-profit organization Save Venice was founded in 1966 to counteract the destructive effects of extensive flooding in this historic city. The organization was initially founded as the Venice Committee of the International Fund for Monuments. The International Fund subsequently became the World Monuments Fund, which continues to provide advocacy, education, and funding for restoration projects around the world. Save Venice, which became an independent non-profit organization, has since raised more than $25 million to help restore the art and architecture of the city. A new report published by Quartenary International claims the city will be entirely underwater within a century the rise in sea level due to climate change if nothing is done.
