Zanzibar Built Heritage Job Creation Project

A group of local citizens in Zanzibar are working to reinvigorate the traditional construction trades to help restore the World Heritage city's historic architecture. Lack of skilled masons, woodworkers, and other aspects of the building arts have hindered historic preservation in various countries around the world. Teaching these trades using historic buildings as the focus serves a dual purpose: preserving historic architecture while teaching a younger group of people new marketable skills.
