New Potential US Sites for World Heritage Designation

While American representatives were largely the originators of the idea to create the World Heritage List, the United States has had only a limited number of sites listed. In recent years, the National Park Service's Office of International Affairs has reinvigorated US participation in the World Heritage Convention. NPS OIA recently published a revised Tentative List of US sites that are being considered for future World Heritage designation. These include Central Park, NY and the early skyscrapers of Chicago, Illinois. As well as Civil Rights sites across the southern United States, among others.
