Can't see the forest for the trees? Communicate through fungi

Researchers have determined that underground networks of fungi provide an essential communication network between individual trees. As one tree is set upon by a pest or disease, it can release chemical signals that travel underground via fungi to neighboring trees, inducing them to produce their own chemical resistance.
