"Park rangers' distinct place in American culture"

The brown hats, the green uniforms, the Ranger Rick program for kids—park rangers of the US National Park Service are visible at sites from the National Mall in Washington, DC to the dramatic western landscapes of Yosemite and Yellowstone. Recently, the use of rogue twitter accounts by some possibly current and former Park Service employees has placed new attention on the role of park ranges in the American landscape.
