The skyline of Manhattan—hidden in plain view

The skyline of New York City is perhaps the most iconic and recognizable skyline in the world. EVen though Chicago is often considered more important architecturally for the development of skyscrapers, New York from the Empire State Building to the Chrysler Building, is well known for its density and design of tall buildings. While a new building boom of extremely tall buildings is underway, the city still contains a rich record of some of its earliest skyscrapers.
