The Mirador Basin Project using new technology to reveal a vast highway network

The dense jungle that covers much of the former Mayan territory has long hindered research into that ancient society. Recently, researchers have combined the technologies of Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) with 3-D printing to reveal a "network of ancient 'superhighways' that once connected pyramids.
