Does digital technology make the Venice Charter obsolete?

The Venice Charter for the Conservation and Restoration of Monuments and Sites, adopted by a group of international conservationists in 1964, called for limited rebuilding of heritage sites that had been destroyed by human action or natural disaster. But new technologies for digital reconstruction may call for a renewed debate on the Venice Charter.
