Buckingham Palace is now a "fixer upper"

Buckingham Palace today is the residence and administrative headquarters of the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom. From its initial construction as the Buckingham House in 1703, the palace has been expanded over the ensuing centuries to become the extraordinary cultural landmark in London known around the world today. Recently, the British government announced plans for extensive renovation and restoration of the historic palace.
