French funding for Syrian heritage
A combination of public and private funds is being collected to contribute to the protection of cultural heritage in Syria during the long-standing conflict. The fund was announced by French President François Hollande at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, directly after comments by US Vice President Joseph Biden decrying the destruction of cultural heritage in the region and the targeting of cultural minorities.
