The reduction of ice in the Arctic region has opened up possibilities for shorter trade routes and, now, increased tourism by cruise ships. The Crystal Serenity is embarking on a cruise through the Northwest Passage, raising alarm among the local Inuit populations and Arctic researchers concerned about the potential detrimental effects of increased tourism in the region.
