Converting traffic circles to pedestrian plazas in Paris
In the mid-19th century, Georges-Eugène Haussmann was commissioned with the re-design of the urban center of Paris. The modern Paris street pattern of broad boulevards and grand circles is largely the result of Haussman’s work. Now, urban planners are looking to re-design those traffic circles to give pedestrians more access.
