Fire Island Pines—“a boon for Modern architecture enthusiasts”

Numerous efforts are currently underway to document and protect the legacy of the struggle for equal rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities. An important aspect of LGBT history is the history of clandestine sexual relations when such relations were often against the law. This author looks at the architecture of what became a gay resort for New York’s gay professionals on Long Island in the 1950s and ‘60s.
