Forging a fossil—Piltdown Man solved

In the early 29th century, the “discovery” of Piltdown man, human remains said to be fossilized remains of the earliest humans yet discovered, caused an international sensation. The remains were thought to demonstrate the “missing link” in the evolution from ape to man. Although the interpretation was indeed controversial, it was not conclusively proven to be a hoax until 1953. Now, we know who forged the fossil.
