A 2,000-year-old Olympic record finally falls

At the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the US swimmer Michael Phelps recently broke a 2,000-year-old Olympic record for winning the most individual gold medals (not counting medals won as part of a relay team). The record used to belong to Leonidas of Rhodes, according to scholars of historical accounts.
