Older than the Varna gold?
Excavations at the Varna necropolis in Bulgaria in the 1970s produced what has sinice been considered the oldest known examples of gold artifacts in the world, dating to 4,600 to 4,200 BC. Recently, archaeologists recovered a tiny gold bead from another site in Bulgaria that may be even older.
