Becoming an urban species

A researcher at Yale University has compiled data on urban populations obtained from the archaeological record and historical documents over a 6,000 year period. This information was then compiled in visual format in a video illustrating the rise and spread of urban populations around the globe. Today, a majority of people on the planet reside in urban areas, a percentage that is expected to continue to climb.
