The Brewmaster’s Castle

The Christian Heurich Mansion was built in 1892-94 in Washington, DC’s newest fashionable neighborhood of Dupont Circle. Now also known as the Brewmaster’s Castle, the former home of DC’s most famous brewer is a remarkable example of the Gilded Age life of the wealthy in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, the Heurich House is much more than a house museum, hosting numerous programs of lectures and history-related events. These include the annual Pride in Preservation garden reception, which celebrates the National Park Service’s LGBTQ Heritage Initiative.
