“Croatoan”—has the Lost Colony been found?
One of the earliest European settlements in what is now North America was also one of the most intriguing. A small group of settlers from England arrived on an island off the coast of what is now North Carolina in 1584 with additional colonists arriving over the next three years. By 1590, however, the colony had disappeared without a trace. Now, archaeologists believe they may have found that trace.
