Philanthropist celebrates the restoration of the Colosseum
Ancient ruins in the contemporary landscape do not exist by accident or coincidence. They exist today because of countless efforts to protect, preserve, and restore these monuments to our collective past. The famous ruins of Rome, like the forum and the Colosseum, have been threatened by neglect, hordes of tourists, and lack of funds. A gala celebration held recently inside the Colosseum marked the multi-million efforts to preserve this magnificent structure funded by Italian philanthropist Diego Della Valle. His gift prompted other philanthropists to adopt other Roman landmarks.
