Virginia Raggi’s election as Mayor of the eternal city marks the first time in its 2,800-year-old history Rome will have a female mayor. Having run on a platform focused on cleaning up scandal-plagued city hall, she also plans to expand the city’s public transport system and add more bike lanes. Her plans for stewardship of Rome’s ancient ruins are not yet know.
