The Mesopotamian Marshlands

Several archaeological sites in Iraq are to be considered for World Heritage status at the upcoming World Heritage meetings in Istanbul. In addition, Iraq’s marshlands are situated around the confluence of the Tigres and Euphrates rivers and are threatened by desertifaction.
